Old Xaverians FC has been a cornerstone of Liverpool football since 1892. Now, our junior section is bringing that same maroon-and-gold spirit to the next generation — FA-aligned coaching, a brilliant community, and a club with real history behind it.
Old Xaverians FC was founded in 1892 by alumni of St Francis Xavier's College — one of Liverpool's oldest and most distinguished football clubs, with a history that runs alongside the city's footballing heritage.
Our famous crest — the oak tree, the bear, and the iconic black-and-white checkerboard — has been worn with pride by men's and veterans' teams for generations. This season, we're proud to bring those colours to the youngest Xavs yet.
Old Xaverians FC Juniors is a new section of the club, built from the ground up for boys and girls from age 6 to 12. Whether your child has never kicked a ball, or plays every day in the garden, they'll find a warm welcome here.
From under-7s to the veterans' first XI, every player at Old Xaverians FC wears the same badge — a symbol of belonging that spans more than 130 years.
Our junior section caters for boys and girls from U7 right through to U13, with each age group following FA small-sided game formats. All sessions are run on age-appropriate pitches with properly qualified coaches.
First steps in football — fun, pressure-free sessions focused on enjoyment, basic ball skills, and making friends. No experience whatsoever needed.
Building on early skills with small-sided games, developing confidence on the ball and introducing simple teamwork concepts.
Introducing positions, movement, and teamwork through structured training and friendly fixtures against other clubs.
Growing technical ability and football intelligence through regular training, with league fixtures providing a competitive edge.
Moving to a larger pitch format — players develop positional awareness, decision-making, and team shape in competitive league fixtures.
Stepping up to the bigger pitch — players develop positional understanding, resilience, and tactical awareness in full league competition.
The full game on a full-size pitch — the pinnacle of our junior section and the bridge into adult football at Old Xaverians FC.
At Old Xaverians FC Juniors, we follow the FA's four-corner player development model — ensuring every child develops not just as a footballer, but as a person.
Our coaches are either FA-qualified or actively working towards their qualifications. We believe great coaching is patient, encouraging, and focused on long-term development over short-term results.
Every session is designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and above all — enjoyable. We want children to leave every training night looking forward to the next one.
All sessions follow FA youth development guidelines for each age group.
Individual focus on each player's growth, not just the team result.
All abilities, all backgrounds. Every child gets equal time and attention.
Develop from U7 mini soccer all the way through to senior football at The Xavs.

Wear the same crest worn by Xavs players for over 130 years. A badge with real history and real pride behind every stitch.
Training, home matches, and our social club all sit on Woolton Hill Road — the long-time home of Old Xaverians FC and the heartbeat of everything we do.
Our Woolton Hill Road ground is more than just a pitch — it's a proper football club, with a social club that's been at the centre of the Old Xaverians community for decades. On matchdays, it buzzes with players, parents, and supporters from across all sections of the club.
All junior training and home fixtures take place at the same site, so parents can relax in the social club while their children train and play.
